I cannot believe that it's already mid-November and the holidays are coming up soon! I've been seeing tons of Christmas commercials and Black Friday ads which makes me so excited for the most wonderful time of the year. I'm planning on decorating my house for the holidays this weekend and putting up the Christmas tree once Thanksgiving passes. With winter right around the corner, I wanted to write a more personal post today and update you all on what’s been going on in my life this fall. So many of my posts are centered around certain topics and I wanted to take a step back to make sure that my readers get to know me a little. So, read along and see what's new with me!
Cider Mill Season
Visiting cider mills and apple orchards is a huge fall activity here in Michigan. When the weather is nice, people flock from all over to go apple picking and to buy fresh cider and hot donuts. My husband and I love the apple orchard so much that we had our engagement photos done at the one just a few miles from our house. Although we didn’t pick apples this year, we did visit to pick up some cider and donuts. I’m a big fan of cider slushies so that’s what I ordered during our visit.
New Addition to the Family
In September my sister got a new puppy! He’s an English Springer Spaniel named Charlie. I just had to write about him since he’s so stinkin’ cute! My parents have a dog and so do my husband and I. With Charlie in the picture now, the dogs are like the three amigos. They love to play with each other and run around outside. It’s been so fun to see Charlie learn from the older dogs. He has definitely picked up on certain traits and characteristics from both dogs. Each week he’s been getting bigger and bigger. It’ll only be a matter of time until he’s fully grown and ready to roll with the big dogs!
Halloween and Stranger Things Season 2
Unfortunately my husband and I don’t get trick-or-treaters at our house, but that didn’t stop me from putting up Halloween decorations and eating a bunch of candy anyway! At work we had a Halloween event where everyone’s kids came to the office dressed in their Halloween costumes and went from department to department to collect candy. I saw tons of creative costumes! One family dressed up as the Incredibles (even the mom and dad were dressed up)!
The release of Stranger Things Season 2 was perfectly timed and we enjoyed watching it on Halloween night. I’ve never binged a show from start to finish in one sitting. For STS2, we watched anywhere from 1 to 3 three episodes a day/night in order to stretch it out a little. I loved every episode, but ep. 7 wasn’t my favorite. I saw a hilarious article on BuzzFeed that summed up my thoughts. I think my favorite part of this season was how Steve’s character was developed. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t finished watching yet, but I thought the Duffer Brothers did an awesome job taking his character in a different direction and helping him shed the “dumb jock” persona that he got in the first season.
Last Friday I celebrated my birthday! This birthday really snuck up on me and I felt like I wasn’t really prepared to celebrate. Since graduating from college and entering adulthood, the novelty of my own birthday has kind of worn off. I’d much rather celebrate with a close group of family and friends than go out and have a big night on the town. Everyone is different though, so if that’s your style, then you go girl!
Instead of spending the day at work my husband and I decided to take some vacation time and head to my parents’ house for the weekend. My sister tagged along as well! The three of us took a little road trip up to Northern Michigan in the 2017 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring. My friends at Mazda loaned the vehicle to me for a week so we got to test it out and check out all of its amazing features. I’ll be adding a full review of the car to the blog in a week or two. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this car!
Next Up: Thanksgiving
How is it already Thanksgiving next week?! It feels like fall JUST started! This year, my husband and I will be heading over to my sister’s house for the big meal. She lives fairly close by, so we’ll head over to her place just before the football games begin! I don’t know about your family, but mine loves to watch football on Thanksgiving Day. While the turkey is in the oven, we gather around the TV with snacks and drinks and root on the Lions! My husband makes a mean green bean casserole so that’s going to be our dish to pass. I can’t wait for some time off of work to spend with family!
Anyway, enough about me. I want to hear what you’ve been up to this fall. Share with me in the comment section below!
