Trying the Plant-Based Non-GMO Awesome Burger from Sweet Earth Foods

Trying the Plant-Based Non-GMO Awesome Burger from Sweet Earth Foods

Have you ever had a plant-based burger? Up until recently, I had never had one, but I had heard so many great things about them. I knew I had to try one, so this past week I cooked up the new Awesome Burger from Sweet Earth Foods. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when cooking the burger, but the process was super easy – I just took the patty out of the package and seared it in a non-stick pan on the stove. Once it was done cooking, I placed it on my favorite brioche bun and added some ketchup, mustard and a sliced pickle.

Living in Michigan, I have the opportunity to enjoy lots of local products that are made right here in the Mitten State. Michigan is home to the Cherry Capital of the World (Traverse City), plenty of popular breweries like Founders Brewing Co., and Dearborn Sausage Co. No matter what types of food you like, you can find great products - ranging from locally grown fruits and vegetables to snacks like potato chips and pickles -  from every corner of Michigan.

Monthly Favorites: March 2018

I still can't believe that it's almost April. 2018 is flying by and summer will be here before we know it (that's something that I'm definitely excited about). This weekend is Easter and April Fools Day - it'll be so fun to spend some extra time with family. I'll be cheering on the Michigan Wolverines as they face Loyola Chicago in the Final Four NCAA Tournament game this weekend. Go Blue!

I'm excited for today's post because I get to share a few of the brands/products that I've been loving lately with all of you. As a blogger, I have the unique opportunity to learn about and partner with all kinds of different brands. I absolutely love trying new products and finding ones that fit into my lifestyle. Being able to share the items that I love most with all of you is something that I enjoy and I hope all of you enjoy it, too!

Quick and Easy Dinners Brought to you by Kroger Prep+Pared Meal Kits

Quick and Easy Dinners Brought to you by Kroger Prep+Pared Meal Kits

There's something so rewarding about cooking a meal that tastes delicious, don't you think? It's even better when you have someone to share a meal with. My husband and I enjoy trying out new recipes and cooking for each other. We both look forward to dinner time because it gives us an opportunity to catch up and hear about each other's day while eating a great meal. From Italian food, to Mexican food and everything in between, we like to switch it up each week and make different recipes that fit with our lifestyle and budget.

The first time I started cooking for myself was when I started living in an apartment during my sophomore year of college. When I was a freshman I lived in the dorms on campus and had a meal plan, but once I was on my own during my second year of college, it was time for me to test my skills in the kitchen. My roommates and I all cooked for ourselves and bought our own groceries, so I mostly stuck to easy or basic recipes that only required a few ingredients and could be made for just one person. Back then, meal delivery services where you can pay a monthly subscription and get food delivered to your door weren't a thing yet. Even so, now that I'm older, I've never enrolled in any because they seemed too expensive for my taste.

The Perfect Pair: Asian Pulled Pork Tacos and Diet Coke® Zesty Blood Orange

One of my favorite things to do on the weekends is to plan out my meals for the upcoming week. I feel so much more organized when I create a grocery list, pick out the ingredients that I need at the store and know what I'll be cooking ahead of time. When I'm in the kitchen, I like to make easy recipes that are full of flavor.

Lately, I've been experimenting with all sorts of different recipes. I've made everything from hearty soups to refreshing salads! Each day I crave something different and having an assortment of recipes to choose from keeps things interesting.

Mixed Berry Green Tea Recipe + Capresso Iced Tea Maker Review

Mixed Berry Green Tea Recipe + Capresso Iced Tea Maker Review

When I was growing up, my grandma always had a decanter filled with freshly brewed iced tea in her refrigerator. I can remember sitting on the back porch at my grandparents house with my family drinking iced tea during the summer months. Now, my parents are the ones that always have iced tea in their fridge. My mom loves to make sun tea and serve it over ice. It's the perfect way to cool down on a hot day.

Through my grandparents and my parents, I've definitely become fond of tea. When I'm sick the first thing I reach for is a cup of hot tea with lemon. On chilly winter mornings, I'll also warm up with a cup of tea after arriving to the office and reading emails.

Out of all the types of tea out there, I love green tea best since it's packed with nutrients and it has many health benefits. As much as I love green tea, sometimes it can be boring to drink without adding something extra. I love adding slices of lemon to add more flavor to hot tea and lately my go-to add-in for iced tea has been mixed berries.
