Monthly Favorites: August 2018

I received product(s) mentioned in this post for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

How is it already the end of August?! Summer is my favorite season and it went by in the blink of an eye. I know that a lot of people are fans of fall and can't wait for it to get here (I totally get it - cooler temperatures, pumpkin spice-flavored everything, boots and flannels, etc.), but I'm a summer girl so I'm sad to see this season come to an end. I wish that summer would hang around for a few more weeks, but there are so many things for me to look forward to this fall, so I guess I'm okay with embracing the start of September!

Knowing that August is coming to a close, I wanted to round up my favorite products from this past month. I love sharing these with you all and I'd love to hear if you've used or heard of any of these brands/products. Read on to see my picks for this month!

Real Techniques Makeup Brushes

I've gone back and forth over whether I like brushes or beauty sponges better, but right now I'm all about brushes thanks to Real Techniques. I recently got the Prep and Prime brushes from Real Techniques and they're awesome! Within the set, there is a prep brush which is great for using with facial moisturizer, primer or serums, a facial brush to use for exfoliating your skin, an eye reviver to use for a cooling under eye massage and a lip brush which is perfect to use with your favorite lip balm or scrub to exfoliate your lips.

In addition to the Prep and Prime brushes, I also got the Expert Face Brush which has been a game-changer for blending and buffing my foundation. The bristles are so soft, yet firm, so everytime I use this brush I'm left with skin that looks airbrushes and perfectly smooth. I'm so excited to try out more Real Techniques brushes, but for now these ones are staples in my makeup bag.

Sight Supply Daily Contacts

I've been wearing contacts since I was a sophomore in high school. I noticed that my eyesight was getting worse when I sat in the back row of my chemistry class, so I asked my mom to make an appointment for me at the eye doctor. Sure enough, after getting an eye exam done, the doctor concluded that it was time for me to get a prescription for contacts and glasses. I normally wear monthly contacts, but I wanted to try daily contacts to see if I liked them better. With my monthly contacts, I found that I was  either overwearing them and not changing them as often as I needed to or running out of them too quickly.

Sight Supply sent me a month's worth of daily contacts and I've been wearing them for a few weeks now. They feel really comfortable in my eyes and they were shipped right to my door. The nice thing about Sight Supply is that you can subscribe to receive your contacts on a monthly basis. For $30 a month, you'll receive Sight Supply lenses and you can pause, cancel or change your service whenever you want. Sign up for your free month of @sight_supply daily lenses at

Almay Goddess Gloss

I'm not the biggest lip gloss person, but Almay may have converted me. I recently got four different shades from Almay's Goddess Gloss collection and I've been loving them. They provide a little bit of sparkle and the perfect pop of color. My favorite shade right now is called flame (the darker shade in the photo below). It's so versatile and can be worn with practically any outfit or for any occasion.

Another reason why I love these lip glosses is that they go on smooth and they don't leave behind a sticky feel or residue. They're also really moisturizing and fragrance free, so my lips feel great whenever I swipe on any shade from this collection.

My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream

You might remember that I talked about My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream in my Babbleboxx Cool Cocktails and Fresh Foods blog post a few months back. In that post I tried out the Double Chocolate flavor and I loved it. My friends at My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream sent over three more flavors for me to try this month: Mint Chocolate Chip, Salted Caramel and Ripe Strawberry. After tasting each one, I couldn't believe how good they were. If I had to choose a favorite, I think I'd go with the Ripe Strawberry flavor. I don't eat strawberry ice cream that often, but this had me wanting more after each bite! It was so sweet and fruity.

I totally recommend My/My Mochi Ice Cream and I think you should try it out for yourself! To find it at a store near you, click here to use the My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream store locator. If you do end up buying some, I'd love to know which flavor you picked up and how you liked it!

And there you have it! Those are a few of my favorite products from this past August. I'm always on the lookout for new products so I can't wait to see what September has in store. Since fall is right around the corner, I'm sure that I'll be picking up and trying out some new products that will help me transition to the new season. I'll keep track of everything I like and highlight the best things in my September favorites post!
