Like most girls, I first learned about makeup from my mom. I remember looking through her drawer in the bathroom that housed all of her beauty products and wondering what each one was for. As I got older, I became more and more curious about the products she was using and why she used them.

My mom worked full-time as I grew up and when it came to makeup, she always preferred a simple look. Eye shadow, a coat of mascara and some lipstick was all she ever needed and she pulled it off so well (and still does).

In today's post, I wanted to share three beauty products that I started using as a result of raiding my mom's makeup drawer.

Pond’s Dry Skin Cream
This is my all-time favorite moisturizer. It’s great because it keeps my skin hydrated all day long AND it doubles as a makeup remover! In the morning, I put this on right after getting out of the shower. After patting my face dry with a towel, I’ll rub the cream on my cheeks, forehead, chin and nose. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave behind any sticky residue. At night, I can swipe a thin layer over my face or eyelids and wipe all of my makeup off with a tissue. Every sign of foundation, concealer, eye shadow, eyeliner and mascara comes off effortlessly. Pond’s Dry Skin Cream also tastes amazing and the texture of the cream is light and smooth.

Great Lash Mascara
This product is such a classic. It’s so affordable and perfect for anyone who is beginning to wear makeup or likes to experiment with makeup. Aside from being a great mascara, Great Lash is super affordable. You can find it at your local drugstore for less than $5 (depending on where you live). When I first started wearing makeup, this was definitely my go-to mascara!

Revlon Crème Eyeshadow
I love crème eyeshadows! They’re so easy to put on and they provide a different look and texture compared to the powder shadows that I wear from time to time. I love Revlon Crème eyes hadows because they come in an assortment of colors. There are tons of different palettes to choose from but I prefer any palette that has nude colors. I have blue eyes so I try to accentuate those with nude or brown colors. When my eye shadow is paired with a black liner and mascara, my my eyes really pop!

I'm not the most makeup-savvy person in the world, but I do enjoy wearing makeup to work and when I get together with friends or family. I'm so thankful that my mom introduced me to the products above. They've definitely found their way into my makeup routine and I think of her each time I apply certain products.

Are there any particular products that your mom uses that you use too? I'd love to hear how your mom has influenced your makeup routine (if at all). Share with me in the comment section below!
